Waiting can wear you out. Especially when you’ve prayed, done what you know to do, and still don’t have an answer. You want something clear. A yes, a next step, a little reassurance that you’re headed somewhere.
And when nothing seems to change, it can get harder to let yourself hope. Nobody enjoys getting their expectations up just to feel disappointed again.
Romans 5:5 connects hope with the love God pours into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. That gives us something to hold on to even when we don’t know how a situation will turn out: we are loved by God while we wait.
That doesn’t mean every outcome will match what we prayed for. We can have faith and still experience disappointment. We can trust God and still need to cry, ask questions, or admit that today feels hard.
You don’t have to hide those feelings when you pray. God can meet you in an honest conversation, even if all you have is, “Lord, I’m tired, and I need Your help.”
This week, give yourself permission to take life one day at a time. Pray about what’s weighing on you. Take the next step you can take. Let someone encourage you when your own words run low.
You may still be waiting for an answer, but you can bring every part of that waiting to God.
Prayer
Lord, You know what I’m waiting for and how much it matters to me. Help me remember Your love when uncertainty makes me afraid to hope. Give me patience for what I cannot hurry, wisdom for the steps I can take, and strength for today. Help me come to You honestly and rest in Your care. Amen.
This week’s reflection
What uncertainty can I bring honestly to God today?
